Fort Erie Meteors veteran forward Sam Tonelli — the league’s second-leading scorer — scored a goal and added 4 assists to lead Team Williams to an entertaining 9-6 win over Team Bondy in front of 350 spectators at the Western Fair S.C. in London.
The game featured the league’s top 19- and 20-year-old players, supported by a distinguished group of coaches, trainers, and equipment managers from across the GOHL’s member organizations.
Zachary Leblanc (Strathroy Rockets) and Jonas Schmidt (Stratford Warriors) each scored 2 goals for Team Williams, who rallied from 3-1 and 4-2 deficits to claim the victory. Sam Lockyer (St. Catharines Falcons), RJ Schmidt (Fort Erie Meteors), Alex Simioni (Elmira Sugar Kings) and Kyle Morey (Elmira Sugar Kings) also scored for Team Williams. Schmidt (1 assist) and Morey (2 assists) each had 3-point games.
Brett Warrilow (Elmira Sugar Kings) scored twice to lead Team Bondy, with singles coming from PJ Alexander (Port Colborne Sailors), Gavin McAfee-Rankine (Hamilton Kilty B’s), Adriano Tonin (LaSalle Vipers) and Cameron Fries (Cambridge Redhawks). Joshua Lepain (LaSalle Vipers) and Ethan Osborne (Caledonia Corvairs) each chipped in with two assists for Team Bondy, which held a 44-40 advantage in shots on goal.
James Gall (Brantford Titans, 17 saves) and Eric McDonald (St. Thomas Stars, 21 saves) split goaltending duties for Team Williams. Noah Bender (Stratford Warriors) made 25 saves for Team Bondy before being replaced midway through the 2nd period by Brogan Colquhoun (St. Marys Lincolns) who made 6 saves.
